| In May, 2000 the City Street Department moved into their new garage at 1015 Graphite Road. The building houses a crew of 14 along with their trucks, backhoes, and other major equipment. St. Marys is a large area containing approximately 94.8 square miles. The Street Department maintains 215 city roads and streets totaling 74.44 miles. This includes both paved and dirt roads. They also maintain numerous city owned parking lots, parking meter areas, and sidewalks. In addition, the crew performs various programs throughout the year including the spring and fall clean up days, road paving, leaf pickup, road grading, street sweeping and line painting.
