Girl Scouts’

Plastic “Bottle” Recycling Program

When:             Every Saturday (excluding holidays)

Where:           Parking Lot of the Proctor House on

                        North St. Marys Street

Time:              9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Items being accepted:  #1 and #2 Plastic Bottles only (Milk, Water, Juice, Gatorade, Detergent, Shampoo, Conditioner, Cleaning Products, etc.)  Look for a #1 or #2 in the recycling symbol on the bottom of the container.  Rule of thumb…if the opening is smaller than the base and it’s labeled a #1 or #2 then it is acceptable.

Please rinse containers thoroughly and remove lids.  No need to remove labels.  Bring items loose in curbside container, if possible.  Volunteers will remove the items from your vehicle and place containers/bags back in vehicles.  Girl Scouts will not be responsible for the disposal of plastic bags or any other containers used to transport plastics to the site.

The Girl Scouts are happy to provide this worthwhile community service while earning funds for their non-profit organization as well as protect the environment.  The program can only be successful with the full cooperation of area residents.  Please, no illegal dumping.  The site is under surveillance and violators will be prosecuted.

**Curbside containers can be obtained by calling the City’s Recycling Coordinator at 781-1718 ext. 225.
