NOTICE TO CITY OF SAINT MARYS RESIDENTS

CHANGES TO CURBSIDE RECYCLING PROGRAM

Effective January 1, 2008

 

Effective January 1, 2008 the following changes will occur to the City’s Curbside Recycling Program:

 

Items to be collected at the curb:

 

 

The service area for the Curbside Recycling Program will be extended to almost 100% of the City’s public streets.

 

Please make sure your container is out before 7:00 am on collection day.  The 2008 Curbside Recycling Calendar includes instructions for preparing your recyclables.  Look for your 2008 Curbside Calendar in the Shop Right on Monday, December 17, 2007.  Several additional areas have been added to the program.  Collection occurs once every other week. 

 

Please note:  After December 31, 2007 no plastics will be collected at the curb. 

 

Residents can continue to use the County’s drop-off containers located on Depot Street and South Michael.  Containers are available to residents to recycle mixed paper, corrugated cardboard and bi-metal cans.

 

The City's Compost site, located on Wilson Road, is available to residents seven (7) days a week during daylight hours.  Residents can dispose of the following yard waste materials:  Grass, leaves, trees (up to 8" in diameter), bushes, plants, garden residue, chipped shrubbery, tree trimmings.  The compost site will also be accepting Christmas trees after the holiday season.

 

The Elk County Recycling Center located in the Stackpole Complex is open every third Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  If you would like additional, please all the County's Recycling Coordinator at 776-5373.
